CALDER NORTHERN DIVISION
                          TRAIN ORDERS

March 2023

Welcome to my first edition of Train Orders as Secretary and a special thanks to my predecessor Alan Wyatt .I hope to maintain the high standards he has set over the years.

I will create a dedicated email address soon but in the meantime can be contacted via email at mike.pringle1962@gmail.com or telephone 07799760604.

Steve Park 1935-2023

Sadly we lost our dear friend, Steve Park very recently. Steve made an inestimable contribution to the Region and the wider NMRA over many years.

We will be recognising Steve more properly in the May/June Roundhouse, the March/April edition having gone to print just a day or two before we heard the sad news. We express our condolences to Noleen and Steve’s family.

AGM

The Calder Northern AGM was held on February 11th. I will endeavour to circulate the minutes in the very near future.

The major issue discussed was the implications of future operating protocols following a briefing from Mike Lenz from the Crewe Heritage Centre who outlined planned changes which will impact on how we operate as a Group on the site. The Committee are actively engaging with the Crewe Heritage Centre to clarify how we can best comply with any future requirements.

Member news

We welcome new members Raymond & Edward Parrish to our Group and hope you find your time with us interesting and enjoyable.

Finances

Roy Harris our Treasurer outlined the finances of the Group at the AGM and was pleased to report that recent events have put us on a more secure financial footing which is welcome news in the current climate.

Layouts

The layout operating rota will only be for Saturdays this year and Paul Mitchell is currently compiling a rota of available members to cover operations.

Devils Creek – this layout has been sold and was collected in early January. We received £265 for it. Ebay sales of surplus stock from the layout are going well.

Baltic Street – this has replaced Devils Creek and will be re-planned in order to take advantage of being set up the whole time and the enhanced possibilities that arise both from that and more space.Alan,Roy and Terry have been making good progress in working on this exciting new

project in its new home.

Western Mills. It has been proposed that we organise some rudimentary operating sessions for
the Wednesday sessions. This will allow us to develop an operating schema which could be tried
on at a weekend meet. If anyone is interested in knowing more/joining in the operating sessions
talk to Len Ford or myself.

NMRA X

Members may be interested in viewing the recent NMRA X presentation on the NMRA ORG YouTube Channel aired on 26/2/23 . Cameron Lafleur gave an in depth user guide to registering for the new NMRA Interchange which has the potential to connect us with like minded NMRA members around the world. There are many other informative videos on the channel.
