Welcome to the latest edition of Train Orders.
Member news
Having been in hospital for a broken leg, Les Herriott is now home and receiving treatment to re-
habilitate has leg. He has sent his apologies for not being able to come to the AGM. I am sure we
all wish Les well and continued recovery.
The Committee
Update from last month, Roy is still having difficulties in finding a new bank account for the club.
His comments are below :-
Further to discussion as a meeting last year, the Chairman and Treasurer applied for a new bank account,
initially with Lloyds. The application was rejected on the grounds that they were not currently opening
accounts for organisations already holding accounts elsewhere.
In December we applied to Virgin Money (aka Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank). Our application is “complete”.
However, five attempts to inform them of errors in the documents they need signing electronically have not
produced a response. I submitted a formal complaint on 28th February.
Meanwhile we are re-visiting the 14-page Change of Details form for the old Santander account.

AGM
The minutes of the last AGM and agenda for this one will be available on Saturday. If you have
any points you wish to raise let me know.
Meetings at Crewe
The Heritage Centre will be re-opening on 2nd April and we will need to man the layout from the
date. Paul Mitchell is organising this.
The list of meeting dates is on both the NMRA website and the Calder Northern one. I’ve also
included them at the end of this copy of Train Orders.
The committee has been thinking about the regular meets with a view to making them more
interesting and enjoyable, Tony is leading this. Devils Creek has been opened up and is available
to run should anyone wish to. If anyone has any suggestions for things to do in the meetings let
Tony know.
Conventions
Planning for The Crewe North Junction makes progress. We have 8 layouts and 6 traders booked
for the convention. Black Diamonds and Warley CanAm group will be bringing their Freemo
modular layouts. Black Diamonds is a known quantity but the CanAm modules are virtually all
new. I visited Warley this week to see what they had and was impressed with the quality of the
modelling.
We will need volunteers to act as stewards at the convention and a couple of layouts have asked
could we provide relief operators. So if you fancy running someone else’s’ layout and learning
how they do things please do come forward.
The convention will be an opportunity to show the rest of the NMRA and outsiders what Calder
Northern is capable of and a chance to perhaps attract some new members.
The “virtual” NMRA
The next national Brew & Natter session will be 19th March at 1600, note the different time.
The next CN zoom meeting is 28th March at 7pm. If attendance is again good then I will arrange
for more meetings going further into the year.
The digital NMRA magazine is available from 1st April, please note that you must have a logon to
the national website, www.nmra.org to access the magazine files.
Layouts
Much scenic work has been done on North West Mills after all the track work changes. There is
one point left to power up and still quite a bit of cosmetic changes to make to bring it back up to
exhibition standard.
Devils Creek is uncovered and if people would like to operate it this Saturday let me know. It
requires work on the electrics and scenery of the reverse loops to get it ready for the Convention.
Two of the three boards for Baltic Street are fitted with point motors and wiring. Once the third
board is fitted with point motors we can start on the control panel and the scenery.
