I can now inform you that the funeral of Andrew Wicks will be at 14.30hrs on 11 January. This will be at Vale Royal Crematorium, Shurlach Lane, Davenham, Northwich CW9 8RP
For those using the M6, suggest you exit at Junction 19 and take the A556 west (signed Northwich and Chester). This busy road then becomes a dual carriageway and after passing the roundabout (A530) Shurlach Lane is then a short distance afterwards on your left hand side. Note there is no access to the A556 eastbound when exiting Shurlach Lane afterwards.
Bob Bevan informs me that afterwards people will be gathering at the George & Dragon, Middlewich Road, Holmes Chapel, CW4 4EA.This is located on the North West corner of the crossroads of the A50 and B5308.
Now to other news.-
For those attending the Christmas Meet on 16th December will know, that as the number of members present at 11am was very low a decision was taken to hold the raffle but with a reduced number of prizes. However, a short time later we did find we had 17 members in attendance but as we had already started selling raffle tickets we would continue on that basis with the remaining prizes held over for another raffle at our March (AGM) Meeting. Everyone agreed this was the best option. Thanks to all who generously donated prizes – we had a bumper number on display and as said above half of these have been held back for the March Meet raffle. We are pleased to announce that sale of tickets for the raffle amounted to £171.
Work on the issues on North Western Mills layout continue in an effort to eradicate the problems relating to the power breaker circuits and it may regretfully mean reduced running on the layout at our next meeting on January 12th.
For those members who have in the past set up consists with their locos using the NCE system at the club please note that you will need to delete the consist set up, as when the new Digitrax wireless system is operational there will be no guarantee any pre-consisting will continue to work.
Paul Mitchell has very kindly agreed to be the “Rota” organiser for the Group for 2019. Paul has requested that any member who already has booked dates in his calendar when they will not be available during the year to operate the layout at one of the weekend dates to please advise him before the meeting on 12th January. Reminder – Selling of the NCE stuff – Once the layout goes live under Digitrax system control we will be offering for sale the NCE items currently in use.
Please note we will only sell initially to Group members or members of their family first. Afterwards then we will consider how we deal with any unsold items, perhaps considering advertising in Roundhouse or maybe placing items on eBay.
We are looking for a sealed bid for the following combined lot containing –
- NCE Power Pro Command module with 5amp (AC) power supply
- NCE 5 amp Booster with 5 amp (DC) power supply
- 1 NCE Pro-Cab throttle and cable
Bids to be handed in a sealed envelope to Mike Lenz on or before our meeting on Saturday January 12th
Plus other accessories will be sold as follows –
NCE Pro Cab Throttles – £60 each (4 available for sale)
NCE Small Cab Throttles – £15 each (3 available for sale)
NCE UTP’s – £10 each (10 available for sale)
Please take into account some of the above equipment for sale has been in use for the past 10 years and may have been superseded by newer versions of the same item.
All equipment for sale is currently in use but you will realise all items for sale must be “sold as seen”.
Circuit breakers and frog juicers in use under the layout will be retained for use with the new system.

Finally for this newsletter, will anyone wishing to put themselves forward or nominate someone else (with their permission of course) as committee members please advise Terry Wynne as soon as possible. As you know Brian Burke has decided he does not wish to stand for a further term thus creating a vacancy.
